Type @ while you’re writing a daily log, pick a name from the list, and that person gets notified that you mentioned them. The log also shows up on their Dashboard until they’ve seen it. It’s the quickest way to say “Janice, come look at this drywall” right where the rest of the project’s history lives.
Why It’s Handy
A job runs on lots of people with different skills, and the daily log is where you write down what happened on site anyway. Mentions turn that log into a tap on the shoulder. You don’t have to send a separate text or hope someone reads the whole feed: the right person hears about it, and the note stays on the project for everyone else to see.
How to Mention Someone
Open the project and go to the Daily Log tab.
Click into Write a daily log… and start typing your update.
Type @ and a list of People appears. Keep typing part of a first or last name to narrow it down. Each person’s email sits under their name, so you can tell two people with the same name apart.
Click the person, or press Enter to pick the highlighted one. Their name drops into your log as a blue tag.
Finish your update, add any photos or files, and click Post Update.
The search stops at a space, so type just one part of the name (like “Amy” or “Smiths”) rather than the full name, then pick from the list.
Once posted, mentioned names stay highlighted in the log for everyone who can see it.
Who You Can Mention
The list includes everyone who can see the project’s daily logs:
Owners, Admins, and Superusers on your team, whether or not they’re assigned to the project
Teammates assigned to the project
Subcontractors assigned to the project, or with a won subcontract on it, as long as your team’s Daily Log Upload permission for subcontractors is on
Clients aren’t in the list, and neither is anyone whose role doesn’t include the Daily Log tab.
What the Person You Mention Sees
A notification. The email, text, or push starts with “[Your name] mentioned you in this daily log.” and links straight to the project’s Daily Log tab. Mentioned people get this even if they aren’t assigned to the project.
A red counter on the Daily Log tab. It counts the logs on that project where they’ve been mentioned and haven’t looked yet.
A Dashboard badge and an Activity section. The badge on Dashboard in the left menu adds up their unread mentions (plus any contracts waiting for their signature). On the Dashboard, a section called Activity lists every daily log they’ve been mentioned in, newest first. Each card shows:
An Unread label if they haven’t seen it yet
The project number, name, and address
Who posted it and when
The full log text, with photos, videos, and files
Shared with clients if the log was shared with the client
Click the project name on a card to jump to that project’s Daily Log tab. Load more at the bottom brings up older mentions.
How a Mention Gets Marked as Read
There’s no button to click. A mention counts as read as soon as the log is actually on screen, either on the project’s Daily Log tab or in the Dashboard’s Activity section, in a browser window that’s in front. The Unread label disappears and the counters go down by one. Read mentions stay in the Activity section, so they’re easy to find again.
Editing or Deleting a Log With Mentions
Adding someone in an edit notifies them just like a new mention, and the log shows as unread for them.
Removing someone in an edit takes the log off their counters. A notification that already went out can’t be unsent, though.
Deleting the log clears it from everyone’s counters and Activity section.
A Few Things Worth Knowing
Mentions follow the New daily log notification. Whether a mention arrives by email, text, or push depends on the New daily log row in My Account → Account Notifications. Turn that off and you won’t get mention alerts either, but the counters and the Activity section still keep track for you. See Managing Your Notifications in Eano Pro.
Mentioning yourself doesn’t do anything. Logs you post never count as unread for you.
Mentions are added on the web. The Eano Pro mobile app doesn’t have the @ list yet, and it shows a mentioned name as plain “@Name” text. Mention notifications still reach your phone as push notifications.
Edit logs with mentions on the web. Editing a log in the mobile app removes the mentions from it.
Clients see the name, not the highlight. If you tick Share with client, your client sees the mentioned name as plain “@Name” text in the log. They aren’t notified.
A mention doesn’t grant access. Mentioning someone never lets them into a project they couldn’t already see.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why isn’t someone showing up in the @ list? They probably can’t see this project’s daily logs. Check that a teammate is assigned to the project, or that a subcontractor is assigned or has a won subcontract and your team has subcontractor Daily Log access turned on. Clients can’t be mentioned.
I typed someone’s full name and the list disappeared. What happened? The search stops at a space. Backspace to the first part of the name and the list comes back, then pick them from it.
Will the person get a text? Only if they have text turned on for New daily log in their Account Notifications. The same goes for email and push.
Can I mention a client? Not right now. Mentions are for your team and your subcontractors.
Do my older daily logs show up as unread? No. Only logs where someone is mentioned count, and logs posted before mentions existed don’t have any.
