Daily Logs are the running photo-and-note diary of a project — the fastest way for everyone to see what actually happened on site on a given day. And your subs are the ones on site. The good news is that subcontractors can be part of the Daily Log both ways: they can follow along with what’s been posted, and they can add their own photos and notes from the field. The how is a little different from your own internal team, and this article walks through it so you can set your subs up right the first time.
The short of it: subs read Daily Logs inside Eano on the web, and post them through WhatsApp. Here’s why, and how to get both working.
The Short Version
For a subcontractor to be part of a project’s Daily Log:
They have an active subcontractor account connected to your team — being named on a work order by itself isn’t enough.
They’re assigned to the specific project they want to follow or log against.
For viewing in Eano, the team-wide Daily Log Upload permission is on (it is by default).
For posting, your team is on a Pro plan, and the sub sends their update through the Eano Construction Bot on WhatsApp.

Viewing Daily Logs: on the Web
Subs follow the Daily Log by opening Eano in a regular browser — on a computer or a phone. With the Daily Log Upload permission on and the sub assigned to the project, they can read the full Daily Log feed for that project: every photo and note, timestamped and attributed, the same feed your office sees.
Two gates control that access, and both have to be open:
The Daily Log Upload permission. This is a single team-wide switch under People > My Team > Vendors + Subcontractors, in the Permissions area at the top of the tab. It’s on by default, so new subs inherit it automatically. It’s all-or-nothing across your subcontractor group — you can’t hand it to one sub and hold it back from another — and turning it off removes Daily Log access for all of them at once.
Project assignment. Permissions decide what kind of thing a sub can see; assignment decides which projects they see it on. A sub who has the permission but isn’t assigned to a job won’t see that job at all. If a sub says they can’t find the Daily Log for a project they’re working on, check the assignment first: open the project, use Assign Members, and make sure they’re on it.

Posting Daily Logs: through WhatsApp
Here’s the important part, because it’s where subs differ from your internal crew. On the web, a sub can read the Daily Log but there’s no Post button for them — posting from the browser is reserved for your own team members. And the Eano Pro mobile app doesn’t support subcontractor sign-in at all, so that isn’t the path either (more on that below).
The way a subcontractor posts a Daily Log is the Eano Construction Bot on WhatsApp. The sub messages the bot a photo or a note, and it lands in the project’s Daily Log automatically — attributed to them, in the same feed as everyone else’s entries. No app to install, no login.
For this to work:
Your team is on a Pro plan. WhatsApp Daily Logs is a Pro feature.
The sub’s phone number is on their Eano account. That’s how the bot knows who they are — it matches the number they message from.
The sub is assigned to the project. The bot only offers the projects they’re assigned to, and skips any that are archived or lost.

Why the App Isn’t the Path for Subs
If a sub tries to log in to the Eano Pro mobile app, they’ll get a message saying the app doesn’t support team-member sign-in, and they won’t be able to get in. That’s expected, not a bug — the Pro app is built for you and your internal team, and subcontractor accounts don’t sign in there today. So if a sub reports being stuck at the app’s login screen, the fix isn’t troubleshooting the app; it’s pointing them to the web (to read) and WhatsApp (to post).
Using Daily Logs to Keep Subs in the Loop
Because the Daily Log is one shared, project-scoped feed, it makes a nice lightweight coordination surface between the field and the office. Assigned subs read the feed on the web and post from WhatsApp, while your office follows the same updates in Eano. If you want your subs and your office looking at the same source of truth — today’s progress, a photo of a problem, a note about what’s ready for the next trade — the Daily Log is a natural home for it. It’s asynchronous by nature (a running log, not a live chat), but for “here’s what happened, here’s a picture” it’s hard to beat.
A Few Things Worth Knowing
Two channels, two jobs. Web is where subs read Daily Logs; WhatsApp is where they post them. Neither replaces the other.
Viewing needs the permission and the assignment. If a sub can’t see a project’s Daily Log, check both the Daily Log Upload permission and their project assignment.
Posting needs Pro and the phone number. If a sub’s WhatsApp updates aren’t showing up, confirm your team is on Pro, that the number they’re messaging from matches their Eano account, and that they’re assigned to the project.
The app is not a sub channel. Don’t send subs to the Eano Pro app to post Daily Logs — they can’t sign in.
