Sharing Outside Links with Your Clients

Pin up to four external links — mood boards, shopping carts, your own selections site — to a project's client portal.

You can pin up to four external links to a project's client portal — a shared mood board, a shopping cart, a selections site of your own, a PDF guide. Your client sees them as tidy cards on the portal home page, right where they already go to check on the job.

You set them up per project, from the Preview menu on the project header.

Why This Is Useful

Eano covers the money and the schedule, but a remodel always has a few things living somewhere else. The finish inspiration is on Pinterest. The fixtures are in a Wayfair cart. Maybe you've built your own selections page, or you have a welcome PDF you send every client.

Emailing those links means they get buried. Putting them on the portal means your client finds them in the same place they check payments and milestones — and you decide exactly which links belong on which job, because no two projects share the same mood board.

Setting Up Your Links

The Preview menu in the project header, with Customize Project Client Portal

  1. Open the project and find the Preview button in the project header.

  2. Click it and choose Customize Project Client Portal.

  3. The URL field comes first. Paste the full web address, starting with http:// or https://.

  4. Add a Cover Image if you have one — it becomes the thumbnail on your client's card.

  5. Add a Title and a Description. Both are optional, but a card with a name and a line of context is much friendlier than a bare link.

  6. Click Save.

Fill in the title and description in your own words — a line of context does more work than the link alone.

Your first link opens straight into the form. After that, click + Add More for each additional one. The heading keeps a running count of how many of your four slots you've used.

Editing and Removing a Link

Every saved link sits in that same window as a card. Click the ... on a card to get:

  • Edit — reopens the form with everything filled in, so you can fix a URL or reword a description.

  • Delete — asks you to confirm, then removes the card from your client's portal.

Removing a link takes it off the portal immediately. It doesn't touch anything at the other end — you're removing the signpost, not the mood board.

What Your Client Sees

Once a project has at least one link, a Project Resources section appears on the client portal home page, above the milestone updates. Cards sit two across on a computer and stack into a single column on a phone.

Each card shows the thumbnail, the title, the description, and the web address. Clicking one opens that link in a new tab, so your client never loses their place in the portal.

If a project has no links, the section simply isn't there. Your clients won't see an empty box.

One thing to know: the in-app previews of the client view don't render this section yet, so don't be alarmed if you go looking for it there. The cards do appear on the portal your client signs into.

A Few Things Worth Knowing

Four links per project, and they're per project. Each job gets its own set. Setting up links on one project never carries over to the next one, which is the point — a client should only ever see the boards and carts for their own remodel. When you've filled all four slots, Eano tells you so and you'll need to remove one before adding another.

Fill in the details yourself. There's a note under the URL field about pulling information in from the link automatically. For now, treat the title, description, and image as yours to write — whatever you type is exactly what your client sees, and a sentence in your own voice usually beats whatever a website would have handed over anyway.

Keep titles and descriptions short. Cards in the same row line up to the same height, and longer text gets trimmed to a couple of lines so the grid stays even. A short name and one clear sentence always land well.

Titles and descriptions are single-paragraph. You can't add line breaks — pressing Enter won't start a new line. Write it as one flowing sentence.

The URL needs to be a real web address. It has to start with http:// or https:// and point at a proper domain. If it doesn't, Eano tells you before you can save.

Set these up before the contract is signed. The Customize Project Client Portal option lives in the Preview menu, and that menu is on the project while you're still working toward a signed contract. Once the contract is signed, the header switches to a Client Preview button instead, so the customize option isn't there any more — links you've already saved keep showing on the portal for the whole life of the job, but the time to add or reword them is before signing. If you need a change to a signed project's links, email [email protected] and we'll sort it out.

Adding a link doesn't notify anyone. Your client discovers the cards next time they open the portal. If a link matters right now, mention it the way you'd mention anything else.

Links are visible to whoever can see the portal. Anything behind a card is only as private as the link itself. If you're sharing something you'd rather not have forwarded, make sure the destination has its own sign-in.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I link to a file instead of a website?

Yes, as long as the file lives at a web address you can paste — a shared PDF, a document, a folder. If the file is on your computer, upload it to the project's All Files instead; that's the better home for job paperwork.

Can my client add their own links here?

No. This section is yours to curate. What your client sees is exactly the set you've saved.

Do these links show before the contract is signed?

Yes — and after. The section appears on the portal as soon as a project has a link saved, whether your client is still looking at a proposal or already tracking construction. Adding and editing, though, happens before signing (see above).

Can I change the order of the cards?

Not directly — they appear in the order you added them. To reshuffle, delete a card and add it again at the end.

Who on my team can set these up?

Anyone on your team working on the project, other than subcontractors and field workers — they don't see the Preview menu at all.

What if I need more than four links?

Four is the current limit, chosen to keep the portal from turning into a link dump. If you're regularly running out, tell us what you're trying to share — that's exactly the kind of thing that shapes what we build next.
