Most people land on this question at one of two moments: you’re deciding what to sign up for, or you’ve hit something in the app that’s asking you to upgrade and you want to know what you’d actually be getting.
Here’s the short version. Estimator is for winning work — it’s estimates and your client pipeline, and that’s it. Starter is a single-person plan that adds the job-running side, capped at five active jobs. Pro is the full platform with room for a team, and it’s what most contractors end up on.
If you only read one paragraph: if you run jobs, not just quote them, Pro is the plan built for that.
Before Any of That: You Start on a Free Trial
You don’t have to pick a plan to get started, and you don’t need to sign up for a trial separately. Creating your Eano Pro account is the trial — the first time you sign in, your team is put on a free trial automatically, with no card and no separate step. If you’re reading this from inside the app, you’re already on it.
The trial gives you the run of the platform so you can try the real thing on a real job rather than a demo: build an estimate, send a quote, set up milestones, invite your team. It’s the same product, not a stripped-down preview.
Checking How Much Trial You Have Left
Look at the top of your dashboard when you sign in. While you’re on a trial you’ll see a line reading “Your free trial will expire on” followed by the date — and once it lapses, the same line reads “Your free trial expired on.” That date is the authoritative answer for your team, so trust it over anything you’ve read elsewhere. Trial lengths can be adjusted for individual teams, so if yours has been extended, the banner is where you’ll see it.
One thing to know about who sees it: the banner shows for the person who owns the team’s account. If you were invited onto someone else’s team, you won’t see a trial notice — you’re on whatever plan the account owner is on.
When the Trial Runs Out
Nothing is deleted when a trial ends. Your opportunities, estimates, clients, and files all stay exactly where you left them — you’ll just be asked to pick a plan before you carry on working, and everything is waiting once you do. If you want more time to evaluate properly, ask us; that’s a conversation we’re happy to have rather than a wall.
Estimator: Quote Work, Win Work
Estimator covers the front half of the business. You get the quote builder with templates, your Opportunities pipeline to track proposals as you build them, your client list, and the mobile app.
What it doesn’t include is everything that happens after a client says yes. On Estimator you can create opportunities but not projects — so there’s no task management, no schedule, no daily logs, no invoicing or expense tracking, and no subcontracts or work orders. Once an opportunity is won, the project side of Eano isn’t available to you.
Estimator makes sense if you’re using Eano purely as an estimating tool and running the actual jobs somewhere else.
Starter: One Person, Five Jobs at a Time
Starter opens up the job-running side of the platform. On top of everything in Estimator, you get online payments, task management, the project schedule, daily logs, the website builder, and our material packages.
Two limits are worth understanding before you pick it:
One seat. Starter is a single-user plan. You can’t add team members, and you can’t buy extra seats onto it — adding people means moving to Pro.
Five projects and opportunities. That’s how many can live in your account at once. You can always make room for a new one by deleting a job you’re truly finished with, then create the new one. If you’d rather keep your past work around — and most contractors do, for records, repeat clients, and reference — Pro removes the cap entirely.
Starter is also annual only — there’s no month-to-month option on it.
Pro: The Full Platform
Pro is where most contractors land, and it’s the plan the rest of the help center is written against.
You get everything in Starter, with the limits taken off:
Unlimited projects and opportunities. No juggling, no deleting one job to start another.
Two seats included, and you can buy additional seats whenever you need them — so the plan grows with your crew instead of forcing a migration later.
Monthly or annual billing. If you’d rather not commit to a year up front, Pro is the only plan that lets you pay by the month.
Pro also unlocks the features built around actually running a crew and a book of business: timesheets and time tracking, change logs so you have a paper trail of what changed and when, the booking portal for self-scheduled appointments and inbound leads, pre-signed contracts (you sign first, then it goes to the client), and WhatsApp daily logs so your subs can post from the field.
Practically speaking, the jump from Starter to Pro isn’t one headline feature — it’s that the guardrails come off. No project cap, no single-seat ceiling, and the option to pay monthly.
Adding Seats to Pro: Two Kinds, Two Prices
This is the part worth understanding before you decide Pro is too expensive for your whole crew, because there isn’t one seat price — there are two, and the cheaper one exists specifically so that bringing everybody on doesn’t cost a fortune.
Member seats — $99 a month each. Full access: project management, client communication, and the advanced features. These are for contractors and team leads — the people building estimates, running jobs, and talking to clients.
Basic seats — $15 a month each. These are for hourly workers who need to track time. They cover time tracking and scheduling, and not much else, because that’s usually all a field worker needs.
The distinction matters. If you’ve got a lead carpenter and six guys on the crew, you don’t need seven $99 seats. You need one or two member seats for the people running the work, and basic seats for everyone clocking in and out. That’s the difference between an uncomfortable bill and an easy one — and it means the whole team can be in the system, with real timesheets, instead of half your crew living on paper.
You add either kind from Plan & Billing using Add Member Seats or Add Basic Seats, whenever you need them. Both are available on Pro.
The Takeoff Add-On
Takeoff Concierge — where we measure quantities off your uploaded drawings — is a separate add-on at $299 a month, on top of your plan. Your first takeoff is free, so you can see what you’d be getting before you commit to it.
It’s genuinely optional. Plenty of contractors run Pro without it and do their own takeoffs. It tends to pay for itself if you’re bidding a lot of plan-based work and the measuring is what’s eating your evenings. There’s a full walkthrough in our article on uploading plans for an AI takeoff if you want to see how it works before deciding.
If You Need More Than Pro
We do have plans above Pro for larger operations — things like running multiple teams under one roof, and other advanced capabilities for bigger or more complex businesses. These aren’t self-serve, because the right setup depends a lot on how your company is organized.
If you’re bumping up against Pro or you’re managing several crews or divisions, get in touch and we’ll walk through what fits.
Where to See This in the App
Head to Plan & Billing — click your avatar in the top right and choose Upgrade Plan. You’ll see your Active Plan, your seat count, your billing period, and a full side-by-side comparison of what’s included on each plan, with a short explanation of every feature.
Only Owners and Admins can see the billing page or change plans. If you’re on the team and the option isn’t there, that’s why — ask whoever owns the account.
A Few Things Worth Knowing
Upgrading is immediate. You don’t lose anything in the switch — your existing opportunities, projects, and clients all come with you, and the newly-unlocked features light up on the plans you’ve moved to.
On Starter, making room means deleting. Take a moment before you do — deleting is permanent, and old jobs are often worth more than you’d think when a client calls back two years later.
Seats are separate from your plan. Pro includes two member seats, and you add member or basic seats from the Plan & Billing page as you hire. You don’t need to change plans to grow your team.
Add-ons are separate too. The takeoff add-on is billed on top of your plan and can be added or dropped independently.
Not sure which one? Talk to us before you pick. It takes a few minutes and it’s a lot cheaper than being on the wrong plan for a year.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I start a free trial? You already have one. There’s no separate trial sign-up — creating your account starts it, and it begins the first time you sign in. If you can get into the app, you’re on a trial (or a paid plan), and there’s nothing else to claim.
How long is my free trial, and when does it end? Check the banner at the top of your dashboard — it names your exact expiry date. That’s the reliable answer, because trial lengths can be adjusted per team.
Do I need a credit card for the trial? No. You only enter payment details when you choose a plan.
What do I lose when the trial ends? None of your work. Your projects, estimates, clients, and files stay put — you’ll just need to pick a plan to keep working in the app.
Can I get more trial time? Ask us. Message us here or talk to a person, and tell us what you’re still trying to evaluate — that’s usually the fastest way to get what you need.
Is my first takeoff included in the trial? Every team gets one free takeoff to try Takeoff Concierge, separately from your plan. After that it’s the $299-a-month add-on.
I’m on Starter and I’ve hit five projects. What are my options? Either delete a job you’re genuinely finished with to make room, or move to Pro, which removes the cap entirely. If you’re regularly bumping into five, that’s usually the sign it’s time for Pro — and most people find they’d rather keep their job history than keep clearing it out.
Can I add a team member to Starter? No. Starter is a one-seat plan, and extra seats can’t be added to it. Adding anyone — an admin, a project manager, a field worker — means moving to Pro, which includes two member seats and lets you buy more.
Does my whole crew need a $99 seat? No, and this is the most common misread of the pricing. Field workers who are just clocking in and out need a basic seat at $15 a month, not a member seat. Save the $99 member seats for the people actually running jobs and talking to clients.
Can I pay monthly? On Pro, yes. Starter is annual only. If month-to-month matters to you, Pro is the plan to look at.
Can I use Estimator and still run my jobs in Eano? Not really — that’s the line Estimator draws. It covers estimating and your pipeline, but projects, tasks, schedules, invoices, and expenses all sit on Starter and above.
Is the takeoff add-on included in Pro? No, it’s billed separately at $299 a month on top of your plan. Your first takeoff is free, so you can try it before you commit.
What happens to my data if I switch plans? Nothing is deleted. Your projects, opportunities, clients, and history all stay put. Changing plans changes what you can access, not what exists in your account.
How do I change plans? From Plan & Billing (avatar menu → Upgrade Plan). You’ll see upgrade and downgrade options next to your active plan.
Still Not Sure?
If you’re weighing two plans, or you’re not certain which limit you’d hit first, message us in the app or ask to talk to a person. We’d much rather spend ten minutes helping you land on the right plan than have you find out the hard way three months in.
