How to View and Submit a Subcontractor Bid

Written by Joseph Kibe

When a company invites you to bid on subcontracted work through Eano, you can review the scope, notes, and documents in one place before deciding how to respond. There’s no cost to you, and you don’t need a separate Eano account for every company you work with.

This article walks you through opening the invitation, reviewing the job, and submitting your price.

Open the Bid Invitation

When a company requests a bid, Eano sends the invitation to the email address or phone number connected to your subcontractor account. Open the message and click the link to go directly to the subcontract.

The link signs you in securely and opens the bid in Eano. Because it provides access to your account, don’t forward the invitation to anyone else.

You can also find the invitation later by signing in to Eano in a web browser and opening Subcontracts. For the full experience, use a desktop or laptop computer.

Find the Subcontract

The Subcontracts screen keeps your invitations and results organized in four tabs:

  • All Subcontracts — every subcontract you’ve received.

  • Submitted & Accepted — offers you’ve submitted and firm-price jobs you’ve accepted.

  • Won — jobs the hiring company has awarded to you.

  • Lost & Rejected — jobs awarded elsewhere and invitations you declined.

Select a row to open its details. A red dot means the subcontract has an update you haven’t viewed yet.

Review the Job Details

Before responding, read through the detail panel. You’ll see the project address, current status, project ID, and create date, followed by:

  • Work Scope — the work and pricing details the company chose to share with bidders.

  • Work Notes — instructions or context from the company that invited you.

  • Documents — plans, specifications, photos, or other files included with the request.

Click any document to open it. Treat this step like walking the job before naming a number: make sure the scope and supporting files tell you enough to price the work confidently. If something is unclear, use the contact information at the bottom of the panel to reach the sender before responding.

Submit Your Bid

What you’ll click depends on how the company set up the subcontract.

If the Company Chose Allow Offers

Click Make Offer, enter your total price, and click Submit. Your status changes to Offer Submitted, and the company can review your bid alongside the other offers it received.

If Eano asks you to Complete your information first, confirm your name and add an email address if you’d like, then click Create Account. After that, you’ll return to the offer flow and can enter your price.

If the Company Chose Firm On Price

The company has already proposed a price. You can either:

  • Click Accept to agree to that price, or

  • Click Counter-offer, enter the price you’re proposing, and click Submit.

Accepting or submitting a counter-offer records your response, but it doesn’t mean you’ve won the job yet. The job is yours when the company awards it to you and it moves to the Won tab.

Change or Withdraw Your Offer

If bidding is still open, select the subcontract again to manage your response:

  • Use Edit Offer to replace your submitted price with a new one.

  • Use Cancel Offer to withdraw an offer or acceptance. After confirming, you can return and submit a new offer.

  • Use Reject if you don’t want to bid on the job. Eano asks you to confirm before declining it.

If the company has already awarded or closed the subcontract, these response buttons are no longer available.

What Happens Next

After you respond, the company reviews the bids and chooses who gets the work. Your status in Eano will update as the decision moves forward:

  • Offer Submitted means your price was sent successfully.

  • Offer Accepted means you accepted the company’s firm price.

  • Won means the company awarded the job to you.

  • Lost means the job was awarded to another subcontractor.

  • Rejected means you declined the invitation.

Eano also sends you an email or text when the company awards the job to you or selects another bidder, as long as the corresponding contact information is on your account.

A Few Things Worth Knowing

  • One login works across companies. If more than one Eano customer invites you, their subcontracts all appear in the same account.

  • Your price is a total offer. The submission window asks for one dollar amount, so use the scope, notes, and documents to calculate your full bid before entering it.

  • Submitting isn’t the same as winning. Your offer stays under review until the company awards the job.

  • Desktop works best. The complete Subcontracts list is designed for a desktop or laptop browser.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to pay to submit a bid? No. Subcontractors can receive, review, and respond to subcontract invitations without buying an Eano subscription.

Where can I find a bid after I close the invitation message? Sign in to Eano in a web browser and open Subcontracts, then look under All Subcontracts.

Can I submit a bid from the Eano Pro mobile app? No. Subcontractor accounts don’t sign in to the Eano Pro mobile app. Open the invitation or sign in through a web browser instead; a desktop or laptop gives you the full view.

Can I attach my own proposal to the bid? Not in the current bid-response flow. You submit one total price in Eano. Contact the company directly if you need to send a detailed breakdown, qualifications, or your own proposal document.

Can I change my price after submitting it? Yes, while the subcontract is still open. Select it, click Edit Offer, enter the replacement price, and submit it.

What’s the difference between Accept and Make Offer? Accept appears when the company has proposed a firm price. Make Offer appears when the company is asking bidders to name their own price. A firm-price invitation may also give you a Counter-offer option.

How will I know whether I won? The subcontract moves to the Won tab, and Eano sends an award notification to the email address or phone number on your account. If another bidder is selected, it moves to Lost & Rejected.
