A photo from the field is worth a thousand words — but only if everyone’s looking at the same thing in it. “The crack by the window” can mean three different cracks to three different people. Photo annotations fix that: before a photo goes into a Daily Log, your crew can draw right on it — circle the spot, add an arrow, jot a note — so what needs attention is impossible to miss.

This article covers marking up a photo and attaching it to a Daily Log from the mobile app.

Why Annotate a Photo

A marked-up photo cuts out the back-and-forth. Instead of a long description trying to explain where to look, the photo points at it directly. That means:

  • Less confusion about what a photo is actually showing.

  • Faster, clearer instructions to the field.

  • More accurate records for clients, inspectors, and your own files.

Clearer photos make for smoother jobs — fewer “which one do you mean?” calls between the office and the site.

Adding an Annotated Photo to a Daily Log

From the Eano Pro mobile app:

  1. Tap the camera icon on the Home page, or open a Project and tap Daily Logs.

  2. Take a photo of what you want to document.

  3. Mark it up with the annotation tools:

    • Pen — draw arrows, underline, or write notes freehand.

    • Circle / Highlight — emphasize a specific area.

    • Arrow — point straight at the spot that matters.

  4. Tap Save when you’re done.

Your marked-up photo attaches right to the Daily Log entry. From there you can keep adding notes and more photos, then submit the log as usual.

A Few Things Worth Knowing

  • Annotate before you attach. The markup happens on the photo as you add it, so the saved image already carries your notes — no separate editing step later.

  • It’s built for the field. The tools are quick and finger-friendly, made for marking a photo up on a phone while you’re standing in front of the work.

  • Annotated photos are just photos. Once saved, they behave like any other Daily Log photo — clients and inspectors see exactly what your crew flagged.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I annotate a photo? On the Eano Pro mobile app, when you add a photo to a Daily Log. Snap the photo, then use the pen, circle, and arrow tools before saving.

What can I draw on a photo? Freehand pen marks, circles or highlights, and arrows — enough to point out an area, underline a detail, or scribble a quick note.

Do annotations show up for my client? Yes. Once saved to the Daily Log, the marked-up photo is the photo — anyone who can see the log sees your markups too.

Can I still add regular notes and more photos? Absolutely. Annotating one photo doesn’t change anything else — keep adding notes and photos, then submit the log normally.
